What a fun extended family photo session this was! We initially had it planned for December but the weather was particularly stormy and Alice wanted the shoot to be outside so we moved the date to the following May. In true lake district style we were promised a drizzly day but we decided not to be put off and I found a fairly sheltered location close to the cottage they were staying in. Finding new beautiful locations is certainly a perk of the job! It was actually the host of their cottage that recommended it when I made contact with her, a great suggestion, especially as the blue bells were in bloom.
As I often do with family sessions we embarked on a slow walk pausing now and then for photos, I find this is a great way for everyone to relax and feel unpressurised. I had spoke to Alice before hand and I knew a few family members were a bit apprehensive, as is often the case, but the feedback I got afterwards was that everyone had fun, which I think you can tell from the photos. I have already made one beautiful album from this session with another in the pipeline.
I love spending time with families in this way and finding out a bit of their story as we meander along a walk. If you are visiting the Lake District or just fancy having your family gathering captured you can find out more about a having a family photo shoot here. You can also contact me here. And to see more of my work it’s here.
A few favourite family photos from this very charming family.
