I’m Molly. For over 15 years I’ve been invited into the private, everyday worlds of families, and it never stops feeling like a privilege. I work from North Cumbria, at the foot of the Pennines, but I travel to wherever a family has a story for me to tell. It can be homes full of daily life, holding random important mementos, scattered with yesterday’s clutter, a meaningful walk or simply just any space where you are all together.
Every family has its own atmosphere, I like to settle quietly into it — sometimes guiding, sometimes watching — letting the people and the day shape the photographs with a little creativity thrown in from me.

My approach to family photography
Before every session, I take time to talk things through with you. Understanding what matters to your family helps us shape the session — choosing a location that feels right, a time of day that suits your routine, and anything you might want to bring along to keep everyone comfortable.
If it’s a large family gathering, I like to begin with the group photograph while everyone is still fresh (especially the younger ones). After that, the session opens up. Depending on what we’ve discussed, I’ll move between quiet guidance and simply letting things unfold. Some moments ask for a little direction; others happen entirely on their own.
The aim is always the same: to create space for the natural rhythm of your family to show itself, and to capture it as it is.

Family photography in the Lake District, Cumbria & the UK
I’ve lived in Cumbria long enough to know how much the landscape shapes the way families move, play and gather. The fells, the lakes, the woods — they’re places I return to again and again, and each one feels different depending on the family I’m with. And just over the border, Northumberland has its own pull: that wild stretch of coastline, the big skies, and the history that sits quietly in the background.
When you book a session, I genuinely enjoy helping you find the right spot. It’s one of my favourite parts of the process. If you’re visiting the area, it can be overwhelming to know where to start, so I like to take that pressure away. I think about the kind of experience you want, how your family naturally moves together, and what will make everyone feel at ease.
I often use a brilliant local resource, The Hiking Household — Amy and her family test every walk themselves, and their routes have led me to so many places I might never have discovered otherwise. Thanks to them, I always have a handful of beautiful, practical options no matter where I am in Cumbria or Northumberland.
